The NII LEAD Canada Big Data Leadership Summer Camp

The Ontario Nuclear Innovation Institute and LEAD Canada are pleased to announce a partnership to establish the NII LEAD Canada Big Data Leadership Summer Camp to enhance educational opportunities for local students in Bruce, Grey and Huron Counties.

The NII presents a unique opportunity for the region to be a global host for innovative learning to provide the next generation of innovators with exciting educational, and career opportunities close to home.

Goal of the Summer Camp: To enable youth to develop leadership and natural analytical skills to solve global challenges locally through applied research and training in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and the trades. Our next generations of innovators and leaders need to know they can achieve contributions of global significance – close to home.

Program Description: The day camp program will include guest speakers, training in analytical techniques, team building and leadership. Day campers will form teams – identify challenge questions, use their training in leadership and natural inquiry to develop solutions important to them.

Program Design and Delivery: STEM Fellowship, Trinity Theatre, and LEAD Canada with advisory support from the Walkerton Clean Water Centre.

Who should attend: The day camp is designed for student going into grades 11 and 12. Solutions to complex problems require diverse views and abilities. Students that are making decisions about their future occupation and learning, and can mentor others throughout the school year.

What will you learn: The importance of self awareness, team building, leadership, and the role of Big Data in identifying local solutions. Students can develop and propose solutions to globally significant challenges in energy development and distribution, agriculture production and distribution, as well as challenges to the social and environmental resiliency of rural communities.

Why should you attend: STEM Fellowship Big Data inquiry and experiential learning is recognized by Colleges and Universities across Canada. Trinity Theatre leadership certification prepares 21st century youth with global competencies for an interconnected world and graduates will be internationally recognized as LEAD Associates.

Duration: 10 days, Monday to Friday, August 19-30, 8:30-4:30.

Fees: $125+$16.25 HST=$141.25
